COW Has Over Come A Huge Problem
Laziness and Headaches Icon_minitimeFri Mar 01, 2013 9:44 pm by Kes
So I was being all innocent in the WCC chat box when Kitty came on. My heart stopped when she told me something was up with the music player and that she couldn't log on. Me loving my site and wanting to fix the problem, I rushed to my precious site, only to find that she was right! The music player had basically taken over COW. No matter what URL you typed in, it would take it right back to the …

About the Music Player
Laziness and Headaches Icon_minitimeSat Feb 16, 2013 7:41 pm by Little
So, as you know, there's been a music player, as Kes said. She couldn't get to show up, and it took me about 5 minutes to figure out the problem (The player was in the wrong column and wouldn't show up) I fixed it. We soon realized that you could see the music player at the top, and we got excited. Then we noticed the large, black column at the left.
So, I am currently filling in that large …

Sitewide Plot #1
Laziness and Headaches Icon_minitimeSun Dec 30, 2012 12:54 pm by Cowpelt and Moofur
The first sitewide plot! Hurray for COW! This is Moofur speaking, and I'd like to introduce the first sitewide plot to you. So, cats from every Clan are being trained by the Dark Forest warriors to overthrow the leaders and Clans, slightly similar to the Battle of the Lake in recent-ish books. Not much is confirmed about this plot, though. I'll be talking to Cowpelt later for more on this, …

PostSubject: Laziness and Headaches   Laziness and Headaches Icon_minitimeThu Jan 24, 2013 8:48 pm

Raincloud lounged lazily in the ShadowClan camp, coming in and out of a content doze with a small smile. The sun was warm and high in the sky - the perfect time to nap and sleep. ShadowClan was mostly active at night, but for some reason Raincloud preferred the day. It was brighter and not as...gloomy.

Of course, the medicine-cat felt rather over worked. Being awake and tending to his clanmates all night, while walking around and doing what he wanted to do in the day.

There seemed like no time for sleep. So the tom settled on a compromise; he would doze during the day - so he could enjoy the sun as well - and take it easier at night. So far he was doing okay, but, well...Raincloud suddenly got to his feet, stretched, and then headed for the the medicine den.

A headache pounded in his head as he covered his muzzle with his paws. He had been getting such pains recently, and, as he searched desperately for some feverfew to soothe his mind, Raincloud perked his ear and let out a small hiss.

Snowpool walked into the Medicine Cats' den, her eyes weary and she looked rather exhausted. "Raincloud?" she asked. After hearing the medicine cat hissed, she took a step back. "I just need something to soothe my stomach... are you OK?" she asked, softly. Her blue gaze clouded with lack of sleep.
She looked around and sat down, and she winced as her stomach pounded, oh it hurt! Well, medicine cat's needed time too. She could wait. But not for long.

Raincloud shoved the now-found feverfew to the back of the store, hastily getting to his paws as Snowpool approached. He hurried out, and barely heard her announce her problem. She did look rather sick, though Raincloud inwardly cursed at the new problem. He knew that the she-cat needed assistance, but he needed to take his own medicine as well. Not wanting to be caught looking sickly, Raincloud nodded to the white she-cat and retreated to his store.

He glanced at the assortment of herbs, selecting the one most commonly used for bellyaches. The dark gray tom retrieved two of the mallow leaves, and, at a second thought on her condition, chose to take along a few poppy seeds in his paw.

He padded out to her, his head still pounding with his headache. Dropping the leaves at her paws, he motioned for her to eat them.

"These are mallow leaves. They will soothe the bellyache." He dropped the poppy seeds into the pile, flinching as his concentration wavered with the pain in his head. "T-these 'll help you sleep." His words slurred a bit, but he ignored it, opting to nod briskly and return to his den. He quickly ate the feverfew, probably overdosing a bit. Putting his head on his paws, he felt the pain gradually clear. Still chewing, he poked his head outside of the medicine den to check if his patient was still there.

She quickly ate them, and stayed. She sat by the entrance, and looked at the medicine cat fondly. "Are you alright?" her soft tone asked. She tried to be somewhat quiet, but it sort of failed.

He grunted. She had noticed? He padded out to her, nodding approvingly at how quickly she accepted the herbs. "Just a little headache." He lied smoothly. The pains had died down a bit, making him thank StarClan. Feverfew were so effective these days, and thankfully he had quite a few. Now that he had most of his concentration back, he got closer to Snowpool, examining her.

"You look tired; have you been sleeping well?" He asked, mostly to keep the subject off of his own health. "If your bellyache doesn't feel better by nightfall, I suggest you come back." He advised, giving his paw a quick lick. "Have you eaten any rats recently? Or any prey that was on the pile too long?" He inquired, "If you have, I'll need to give you some extra herbs to make sure you haven't got any poison in your system."

Snowpool sighed. "If your sure." she mewed, "I haven't been sleeping that well," she began. "I did eat a frog that had been in the pile for a few moons, but I had just been so hungry... I had hunted and fed the elders and it was the only thing there." she said. She layed down, and yawned,

Raincloud narrowed his eyes in concentration, worry adding to his headache and sinking into his features. A few moons? She had definitely eaten spoiled prey, making his brow furrow. He crouched down and place a gentle paw on Snowpool's belly as he sniffed it, hoping that the warrior wouldn't feel awkward at the position. He kept his pow steady for a few moments, feeling anxiety bubble inside of him. Once he returned to a sitting position, he looked at Snowpool with a serious stare.

"How long was it since you ate that frog?" He questioned, going into medic mode. She certainly looked like she hadn't slept, making Raincloud worry even more. Sleep-deprived, definitely. She looked a little mal-nourished, as well, indicating that she hadn't been getting enough food. How else would she be forced to eat a rotten frog? "I better give you some more herbs just in case."

He padded into his den, beckoning with his tail for Snowpool to follow. Once in his store, he wrestled around for the right herbs. He retrieved a bundle of yarrow; to get that crowfood out of her system. He grabbed a leaf of honey; so Snowpool could wash down the bitter taste of her vomit, and a few wintergreen leaves; just for any of the poison that was left behind.

He turned back to Snowpool, shoving the yarrow towards her. "Eat this; it will make you throw up the crowfood in your belly."

Snowpool nodded. "I ate it last sunhigh," she mewed. She felt kinda weird when Rainpool poked at her belly, but she didn't really mind. Following the medicine cat, she ate the yarrow, not far after throwing up. She then quickly ate what she thought, and sort of knew was the honey, then the rest. "I'm feeling a little better." she mewed.

"Good." Raincloud mewed. "Eating crowfood is dangerous buisness, though. I suggest you sleep in the medicine den today, and be off of warrior duties for a day - just for recovery." He suspected that the pains in her belly could turn worse, and he wanted to make sure. Everything went smoothly as well. He needed to feed her, too. If she didn't eat something it could turn worse.

"You should be fine, otherwise, though." He reasurred her gently. "I'll have the apprentices clean this up, though." The vomit stained the clearing, making Raincloud mentally whack himself. He should have had her do it outside of camp! Knowing it was his fault, he motioned for her to come into the medicine den.

Laziness and Headaches Empty
PostSubject: Re: Laziness and Headaches   Laziness and Headaches Icon_minitimeFri Feb 01, 2013 12:33 am

Raincloud nodded as she laid down with an approving expression. Usually his patients refused to comply; assuming that it was a weakness of sorts to be off of duty for even a night. That was why Raincloud didn't want to be a warrior. Seriously - what was their rush?

He seemed pleased to have her closer to the inside of the den, for reasons he was sure were beyond the warmth of his patient. It would be nice to have another cat with him - just for company and pleasant conversation, of course. Snowpool was good-natured, even tempered - the perfect company for the easy-going tom. He would enjoy her stay, even if it was only for clinical reasons she was remaining in his care. He licked his ear fondly as he let out a smile smile.

He didn't know what aiding force seemed to compel him to do it, but the thinness of her body and pronoucment of her bones make him flinch. He knew that it was leafbare, but the she-cat must certainly want the rest of the clan to eat first. Raincloud, of course, did not know what it felt like; he was always well fed by the impatient apprentices.

"I'll fetch you a piece of prey before you rest." He told the warrior. "I want to see you eating more as well; unfed, thin cats are prone to sickness." He informed her seriously.

Bounding over to the fresh-kill pile, he retrieved a scrawny mouse for himself, choosing the rather plump (for this season) frog for his patient. The food stash was kind of pathetic, making him cringe, so he returned his mouse. No time for midday snacks; the clan couldn't afford that. The sun warmed his fur as he padded back under the light. Placing the frog at her feet, he motioned for her to eat it.

Snowpool fixed her gaze on the medicine cat, her eyes clouded with an expression just about unreadable, nodding as she listened. "Thanks." she mewed. Once Raincloud had returned, she gratefully took a mouthful of the frog. "This is delicious!" she purred. "I haven't ate like this since I was an apprentice." she commented. She had been skinny for most of her life. But, she didn't really mind it.

Raincloud frowned at her comment, but didn't reply. He glanced around the den with a small smile, although nothing really gave him a reason to - other than the fact that he had another patient to attend to. The medicine den was a large crevice in a rock, forming enough room inside for cats to inhabit - making it rather cozy as sunlight filtered through the entrance. Lining the floor of the den were clusters of leaves and soft bundles of moss. In the corner lay a clutter of herbs carefully wrapped in ivy leaves, protected by a small rock jutting up from the floor. His nest remained beside his stores, and Snowpool rested alongside his nest. Somehow he had to forsake his sunbath and retire, making him lay down in his nest, their pelts brushing slightly.

"Leafbare is ruthless at night," he began, "I don't want to see you out of this nest until I give you the okay. If you digested some type of poison, you could be more vulnerable to white cough or fever." He remembered the times when he was an apprentice, when Beetlewhisker, his mentor, would lecture to him of such things. Beetlewhisker was strict, sure, but that didn't stop the small pangs of loneliness he felt every so often.

He remembered having Snowpool visit when they were both apprentices. Of course, it was always in Raincloud's nature to be lazy, though maturity seemed to shed some old habits. Initially, he reflected, he chose to become a medicine cat because of the workload - something that had seemed smaller than a warrior's - but after a few moons tending to sick cats, he found a love for helping others. Violence always upset him anyway. He was heartbroken, however, when he father-figure Beetlewhisker had died. The den was much to quiet without him rustling around organizing herbs. His mentor was always the more efficient one. Snowpool had frequently visited the medicine den when she was younger, for some reason or another, and now that Beetlewhisker was gone, he was glad for some familiar company. The tom felt comfortable around others, and often visited the nursery looking for a possible apprentice to keep him company and continue his legacy.

"Good." He murmured softly. "You sure have matured since your apprentice days, you know. I haven't seen you in this den for moons." He mewed teasingly, the tone unintentionally slipping out. He licked his paw, grinning as he curled his tail around his paws.

Snowpool chuckled, the medicine cat's words seemed to echo in her mind as she thought of her past. "Yeah..." she mewed, she felt a little embarrassed. "Sorry I haven't come to visit..." she said. "It's hard. I don't like fighting in battle anymore, though. As an apprentice, it was fun. But after awhile..." her voice trailed off, and in a shadow-like voice, concluded with, "its hard to kill others." She shook her head briefly to clear her thoughts. "But, I'm glad to see you again, honestly." she mewed.
Just out of nowhere, she felt something... was that a purr? It sounded clearly loud enough for Rainwhisker to hear, but still... That made Snowpool's tail twitch.

OOC: Nothing's going to happen....Yet.

IC: Raincloud's eyes darkened sympathetically, nodding to her in acknowledgment. Raincloud never knew exactly what it felt like to tear a cat's throat out, but the mere thought sickened him. But the guilt in ending a cat's life had tore at his heart as well - as in every medicine cat. After all, losing a patient isn't so uncommon in this field. He himself had lost...more than a few. It was one of the pains of being a healer; failure. But as a medicine cat, failure most often associates in the patient's death. His mother, Sorrelfur, had passed away from greencough a bad leafbare seasons ago. Beetlewhisker had gone similarly, a few days after her, from catching the sickness through too much interaction with the patients. It stung, those memories, but he eventually got over them, and, thankfully, he had not experienced much since.

He felt a little surprised to hear a soft purr from his companion, but it was calming; to hear the sound he had heard many times during their apprentice days. It was deeper now, more sexy and he found himself smiling. "Death is a part of life." he murmured to Snowpool. "And I'm glad to see you again, if not for your company. It gets dull once you do it every day - preparing ailments for the elders, healing apprentice's sprained paws. It gets ridiculous, and I never really get much civilized company."

Snowpool listened, her eyes frooping from the Poppy seeds, as she curled up into a ball, "Yeah." she said, tiredly. After falling asleep, she woke up awhile later, to find that it was night. But, she just shut her eyes again, but she wouldn't fall asleep again.

Raincloud smiled softly as the poppy seeds took effect, glad that his patient was finally getting some rest. He draped his tail gently over her flank, feeling her breathing even. A good sign, indicating that she had no trouble in her lungs, something hat relieved him. Internal infections weren’t really his specialty. He planned to give her another mallow leaf when she awoke, if just to settle her stomach. Raincloud noted that he would need to collect some the following morning, and to restock his yarrow supply. By sniffing in the vague direction of his bundles, Raincloud could tell that they were also running low on feverfew and marigold. Not enough to make it desperate, but enough to make him worried. The tom placed his head on his paws, closing his eyes as he was slowly lulled by Snowpool’s breaths.

Snowpool slept for awhile, and arose with a huge yawn, blinking the sleepy from her eyes, She smiled when she saw the medicine cat beside her, and she yawned again. She rested her head on her paws with her eyes shut lightly, still a little bit tired. She waited for the medicine cat to awake before she talked to him some more.

Raincloud was roused from his slumber by yawns and the sound of shifting paws, something that startled him at first. He relaxed himself as he blinked open an eye, seeing the white tabby lying contentedly with her head on her paws. Smiling as he steadily rose to his paws, he brushed his flank with a flick of his tail. He remembered his mental note from earlier in the day to retrieve some herbs.

"Good night." he mewed in greeting, affectionately licking Snowpool on her head.

Snowpool's soft blue eyes flashed open and she mewed, "Good night." she smiled. She sat up and stretched, then plopped back down. "I'm feeling much better today." she mewed. She tucked a paw under her chest, and looked around the Medicine Den, the scent of herbs flooding in her mouth. She loved she scent, it was always welcoming to her. She never knew why, though.

Raincloud nodded, smiling softly as she assured him. Placing his tail on her flank, he reached over to his bundles, retrieving some watermint in place of mallow leaves. Snowpool was evidently feeling better - there was no use in giving her a heavier dosage than necessary. Watermint would be good to calm her stomach, being a light reliever.

Raincloud flicked her ear playfully with his tail as he pushed the watermint towards her, motioning for her to eat it.

"This is just watermint, it will help settle your belly before you leave." Somehow, the words seemed bitter on his tongue. But I still don't want you on duty; you could easily get sick that way." The tom would bring her to collect some herbs, Raincloud decided, a light task with him to supervise her movements and reassure himself that the she-cat was fit enough to go hunting.
